MVP-Carmelo Anthony--He was probably the MVP of the season before he was astonishingly suspended for 15 games for a slap. Best inside/out player in the league. He will have to know when to take the big shots and when to pass them off to AI or other Nugz. Best player on Team USA second straight summer
ROY-Durant--obvious. Other roox to watch: Acie Law IV, Tiago Splitter
COY-Skiles
MIP-Lamarcus Aldridge
6TH-Leandro Beep Beep Barbosa
Worst Team--Charlotte-What did they expect when then gave Bickerstaff complete control of the franchise.
First Coach to get Fired-Eddie Jordan, WSH
Dissapointments-Golden State, Mike Conley Jr, Baron Davis, Eastern Conference (again)
Surprises-Orlando, New Orleans
Late Season X factor-Where Sammy Cassell takes his extra terrestrial game. (nuggets, celtics?)
Bad teams that we will be forced to watch on national TV all season-Blazers, Lakers.
(Semi)-Breakout Years- Linas Kleiza, Nenad Krstic, Lamarcus Aldridge, Chris Paul, Martell Webster, Ike Diogu, Sergio Rodriguez, Juan Carlos Navarro
Happy NBA Season! Go Nugz!
Also, just in case you are in a bad mood...

2007 NBA Mock Draft
The NBA draft is one of my favorite sporting events (growing up as a Nuggets fan, you can see why.)
Here is a link to my mock draft:

Motown's own Hottie
Maybe she's not as slutty as the 99 other Maxim hotties, and even though she colorado springs not Monument, Still vote for her. (If she goes to the next round, you HAVE to think Maxim will make her dress more slutty like the others)

The Flight of the what???
You should check out HBO's latest comedy series, The Flight of the Conchords. After it's over, you'll have one of the following reactions:
1-That was really strange. I have no desire to watch that ever again.
2-That was fuckin weird. I can't wait to see the next episode.
Me, I'm the latter. But this is definitely a show that will appeal to only a smallish audiende.
Another random "bark"-
I applaud ESPN for joining the two people on TV that I would most love to beat down.
That would be Stuart "boo-yeah" Scott and Schwab "I think I'm a badass because I know more about womens figure skating in the 1970s than you" Schwab.
That would be so rewarding to beat those fools down. And you know me, I'm not a fighter.

I'm the king of bongo bong
Tonight I'm going to see Manu Chao and his Radio Bemba Sound System at the greatest venue in the universe-Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
Thus...
The SONG OF THE DAY is:
"Bongo Bong" from Manu Chao's Clandestino. Check him out if you haven't yet. He was born in Paris to spanish parents and sings in spanish, english, french, portuegese, and about 29 other languages. His steez is tough to describe, but is a mix of reggae, electronica, rock, disco, blah blah, just listen to it. Good beginner songs to get you hooked: "Bongo bong" and "Me gustas tu."
The LYRIC OF THE DAY is from the same song:
"I'm so happy there's nobody in my place instead of me"
That's a rare and beautiful thing to be able to say.
(Editor's Note: There will be no weekend blog due to a trip to the holy birthplace of the creator; Lincoln, NE for Gigi's (grandma) 75th bday. woooohooooo. Ill be back next week with my take on what should be one of the greatest episode's in TV history: You know, The American Gladiators where Flash and Turbo throw no-hitters in the same game. Psych, it's obviously the series finale of The Sopranos.)

Lebron vs. All
A couple of random jabbers before I get to "The Finals":
Song o' the day:
"The Bleeding Heart Show"
~The New Pornographers from Twin Cinema
It's one of those jams that you listen to without realizing its greatness until about the fifth time your hear, it your screaming the chorus and from then on after you play it on repeat until it gets old. I always try to avoid overplaying my new favorite song as to prolong its greatness and not get sick of it. I suggest you do the same. Seth, you're famous for doing this. I can vividly remember him blasting TQ's "Westside 'til I die" so many times in a row I grew a hatred towards the term "westside" that has stuck with me until today. Now, I commonly replace it with "left coast".
Lyric of the day (and my blog's first trivia question)
"It's a lovely summer's day
and I can almost see a skyline through a thickening shroud of egos.
You can't swim in a town this shallow
because you will most assuredly drown tomorrow."
-Death Cab's Why you'd want to live here.
Q: To what town is this song referring? (no googling)
(sidenote: You may or may not realize I referred to Ben Gibbard's band "death cab" and not "death cab for cutie". This is simply because I started to hate myself whenever I told people I loved "death cab for cutie." It just sounds to gay and emo. Simply using "Death cab" at least excluding the word "cutie." They are most definitely one of my favorite and most respected bands, but they can only go so far with this name.)
Random jabberness:
-Trust yourself to know when not to
-What was the best thing before sliced bread?
-The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
-How do vegatarians feel about animal crackers?
The Finals
As much as it kills me to say it. Spurs in 5.
I was going to go into great depth of why the Spurs are better and will win this series fairly easily. But, for one, I don't have time, and for two, if you watch a lot of NBA basketball you just know the Spurs are better. Better shooters, better defense, better coaching. Basketball is often way overanalyzed. The Spurs have more better plays and are more well coached than the Cavs. If the Cavs were in the west this year, to my estimation they would have been the 7th seed and ousted by the Suns in round one.
I ♥ Lebron more than anyone and would love to see him win this series, but now that I am a reputible journalist I have to be realistic and predictable in what im going to say and always go against the fans what would be more fun.
Years from now, this will just be Lebron getting his toes wet in the NBA finals pool. It won't be Lebron becoming the next MJ at the ripe age of 22.
The spurs will make him look human, at least sometimes.

School night!
Well, tonight is a school night for me. Summer classes start tomorrow. Most people cringe at the thought of taking class in the summer. For some reason, I don't. Well I was going to go into why I don't mind taking summer classes, but all the sudden am thinking it would be boring to write and also to read.
Usually, my reading mind is most attracted to small snippets of text that get to the point. More bang for buck, if you will. I like lists too.
Good things-
-showers after camping
-puppies-one of the best things in the world. Are you ever not in a moment of happiness watching/playing with a puppy?
-gift cards-they force you to buy something you want but don't usually need.
-scattergories-play it if you havent
-blueberry pie, the drink-blueberry stoli and sprite. maybe kind of a gay drink, but it really does taste like blueberry pie. And blueberries arent even in my top ten list of fruits. This thought will now take me into an inpromptu list of favorite fruits.
[Top Ten fruits-
1. Banana-(its versatility and portability give it the edge over the others)
2. Kiwi
3. Pineapple
4. Grapes-I don't eat enough of em.
5. Watermelon-How is it so juicy?
6. Honeydue (sp?) melon
7. Canteloupe-the fruit of colorado
8. Blackberries-yeah, theyre better than raspberries
9. magdelena-mini oranges, not tangerines, I used to eat in Espana Daily
10. Apple]
Back to more good things-
-new girls
-new lightbulbs/batteries
-coming home to your roommate preparing chicken kebobs
-coming home with seth to prepare food-the cooking worlds Nene--hes really good just not many people know it yet besides hardcore fans.
-shopping with mom
-dogfish 60 minute IPA
-nutella
-bbqing in the summer with nba playoffs on in the background
Now some bad things (I know I'm getting bold and creative with my categories)
-Leaving home
-old girls
-gift cards-they force you to buy something you want but don't usually need.
-watching helplessly as two bottles of dogfish IPA slide of the hood of my car, where Colin strategically placed them so he could take a piss.
-the news-I'm over it. it rarely says anything to make me happy.
Lyric of the moment (I can't say 'Lyric of the day' because I don't write daily)
-" I don't get you . .
I can't forget what you've forgotten"
~Shiny Toy Guns
Song of the Day
"Save Your Day"
Jose Gonzalez, Veneer- First of all, he's Swedish, so all you racists are allowed to like him. Another instant classic recommended to me by the Dirtiest himself. I can't get enough of it.
Well, I was going to write more but I'm supertired since I unexpectedly was still awake when the sun was coming up last "night."
You'll have to wait for more.

Random Thoughts on a Blustery day in Boulder
-Song of the day:
"In The backseat" by Arcade Fire.
From the album "Funeral". One of my favs. Much better than the overhyped Neon Bible, if you ask me.
-Lyric of the day:
-Arrested Development may be better than Curb Your Enthusiasm. Maeby. I pity thee who havn't seen it/seen its glory. I put up some video clips, they should be on the upper right side of the page=================================>
-The new "do-it-yourself" honey roasted peanut butter from Safeway is amazing.
-I want a coffee shop girl.
-The gap between Wilbon and Kornheiser is growing. You should know who is rising and who is falling.
-Watch L'auberge Espagnole. Yeah, it has subtitles. Yeah, that means it should be more appealing.
-Then watch the sequel; Les Poupées russes. It may be better. Maybe.
-I've finally found a worthy contenderfor the title of Best Brown Ale currently being held by Tommyknocker's Maple Nut Brown Ale. Rogue's Hazelnut Brown Nectar. I'll still take the Maple Nut overall, but there will never be smoother brown than the Rogue.
NBA Notes
-At first, I was hoping to see the top 2 picks (Oden and Durant) in the NBA Draft land in the East. But I was excited to see them landing in the west. Not only the west, but the Northwest, which means more competition for the Nugz. But it also means quality basketball and exciting young players (and the next two potential mega-stars will be more easily watched and tracked by us living here). We'll be able to see them live at least once a year and maybe times on TV.
Draft sleepers:
-Tiago Splitter- 2 of my fav nba players are brasilenos-Nene and Barbosa
-Mike Conley Jr- maybe not a sleeper, but he will end up being 2nd best pg in this draft, behind...
-Acie Law- To me, a top 6 pick.
"Over-rated"
-Noah- I think its obvious at this point.
Bets case scenario: Rich man's Varejao. Worst Case: Out like Skita in 4 years.
-Brandon Wright- I just don't see it.
-McRoberts- No one sees it, right?
-Aaron Afflalo-Poor man's Linas Kleiza at best.
-Yi Jianlian will be the 3rd best player in the draft. Like Dirk (gulp) but more athletic and aggressive and less of a shooter.
Is it me, or does the eastern conference just seem to poison some players, or at least make the less appealing to fans. How much cooler would it be if Lebron were a Clipper, seeing him toss oops to Elton Brand instead of, sorry Seth, Drew Gooden. Have some legitimate scoring help with Maggette.
Jason Kidd may finally get his due from the fans and media if he weren't in Jersey, and, as much as I hate the Lakers, I really wanted to see them trade for Kidd near the deadline this year. It'd be fun to see him play with Kobe. He's so unselfish, and Kobe the opposite. But he would have to respect a student of the game like Kidd. Another decision by whoever is running the Lakeshow (Kupchak, Buss, the Zen, or Kobe) that is boggling. Kobe needs help now, he can't wait for Bynum to maybe be a pretty good post player.
Think of a possible lineup with one simple move by the Lakers-Bynum and LA's 1st rounder this year for Kidd (LA would have to throw in one of their many useless players to make it work salary-wise):
1-Kidd
2-Kobe
3-Walton
4-Odom
5-Kwame
Bench-VladRad, Turiaf, sign some decent guard(s) with the mid-level. Not sure why they wouldn't do this...Do you agree Donald/Dirt/any other gay laker fans reading this?
-A couple more hypothetical trades for this off season. (This is one of the many things that makes the NBA great. Hypothetical trades. Rumors. One of underrated edges it has on NCAA ball.
This one is brought to you by long time reader Seth Stingley from Motown, CO.
Seattle's #2 pick (Durant) for KG. It obviously couldn't be that simple because of the big ticket's contract, but you get the point.
How sick would the sonics instantly be with this lineup?
1-Ridnour/Earl Watson
2-RayRay
3-Rashard
4-KG
5-Collison (yeah, he can play "center")
If they pick up some solid vet backups, tell me they wouldn't have a shot at a title sometime in the next few years.
Minnesota would have a young core of Durant and Foye. They dump contracts and trade for picks and build around these two. They would start to be really sick once the top tier of the league right now starts to fade a little bit (Spurs, Dal, Den, Det, Hou, Chi, etc.) The Northwest would be one big rivalry and super division with Melo in Denver, the Jazz, Oden in Portland, and KG and Ray Ray playing the old vets in Seattle.
Why can't NBA GM's just be logical? I don't think this trade would happen because Seattle would be afraid to be the dubious team that traded Durant, if he does go on to be a superphenom.
-One last NBA note: This is a super-long shot, but how sweet would it be to see Denver's own Chauncey Billups (UNrestricted free agent this off season), sign with Denver. They would be soooo sick. They would win the 'ship next year, g'teed.

the fresh wind and bright sky to endure my suffering
I'm a hole without a key if I break my tongue
Oh, speaking of tomorrow, how will it ever come?

-I’m superstoked for the champions league final tomorrow in Greece. I'll take AC Milan over Liverpool 3-1. Kaka with the hat trick. I'm bitter about L'pool being here because they knocked out two of my favorite clubs: Barca and Chelsea.
I ♥ futbol.

The 1st Wonder
I'm creating this blog because I often have random thoughts at random times that I would either like to share with someone, or, simply put on paper as if not to forgot my ingenious thinking forever.
Anything goes here; from a song lyric or a movie scene I can't get out of my head, to blowing off frustration about how bad the Nuggets sucked yesterday and what I'd to to fix it, or maybe a list of my top microbrews or how hot the girl I just saw Entourage was (and how Taylor preferred the Asian, obviously.)
Hopefully I'll actually post stuff semi-regularly, seeing as I am unemployed and have nothing more to do right now that take advantage of Boulder in the summer (which seem to be filling my days quite nicely.)
So check back once in a while or even throw down a little comment if you wanna get crazy.
Wandering vs. Wondering
To me, the same word. One is used to describe a something physically. e.g. He is wandering. This is what I might do on a random tuesday afternoon after class. Ride my bike around with no real destination or goal in mind. I also do this when I'm drunk. Leave a bar without telling any of my friends and walk around in a drunken stumble, "wondering" about other things.
There is the difference, wOndering is mental. You philosophically wonder about things in your head or wonder about the future or why peanut butter and nutella sammy is so damn good when you're high.
I do a lot of wandering and wondering in my life, and I seem to enjoy when I do it. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but it is a trait im proud to attach to myself for some reason.
I'm starting to feel like my writing is getting a little dry and too professional. I wanna write something that I think would make you laugh out loud but also make you think.
I remember in Catcher in the Rye when Holden is talking about books and he says something to the effect of--You know a good book when you think you's be friends with the author; like you would just love to sit down and bullshit with him for an hour.
Hopefully, there will be many more wonderings to come. And they'll be somewhat interesting. For those who have lived with me know I log more than a couple internet hours a day so I figure I might as well be jotting some ideas down than just wasting more time looking up maple syrup on wikipedia or reading blu-ray vs. HDDVD articles or collecting my ever growing list of must-have music.
Speaking of which, I'll leave you on a musical note. Ive been getting into Bright Eyes lately, on my dads suggestion (as much of my music comes from,) and am obessessed with two songs from them: Lover I Don't Have to Love and Easy Lucky Free. Check em out if you can. More on music next post.
Enough computer time, I'm gonna go crack a Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar and watch the latest Sopranos on my newly acquired HD imported from Seth. Thanks, brah.
