About the lakers: -Kupchak is an idiot and maybe the only bad apple sewn by Jerry West in his tenure there (aside from the George Lynch draft pick).
-Dominating big men are extremely hard to come by in this day and age but with a changing game the argument that they are a must-have for NBA success is diminishing. That being said, IF Bynum becomes what he is capable of being, it would have been idiotic to trade him for an aging (albeit HOFer) Kidd. Now, with that already said, if I had it to do again, I would. Kidd is still hoopin' and Bynum is still a work in progress that may or may not pan out. I think Kobe had more left in the tank than many suspect, but I don't think he'll stay around much longer without making some noise in the playoffs. It is for this reason that I would make the deal. They are financially strapped at the moment and Buss doesnt want to pay the luxury tax so there isnt much they can do this offseason. If West were still around, things would be different. Odds are, they'll scrap the team and hope that whatever they get meshes better than this collection of players. The problem is that the triangle is a system which improves with time, so to just through together a new group and expect quick results is extremely hopeful if not lunacy. I'm hoping that Kupchak has gained(lost?) enough by his prior actions that somebody trades with him thinking that whomever he wants, they don't. It's the reverse-West effect, where making deals became tougher as he proved to be the winner so often.
KG to Seattle for #2-
-I dont like it for Sea. at all. Yeah you have a nice starting five (center is still a big question mark)for how long? 2 years? 3, maybe?? Lets take a look at how injury prone these two have been over the past few years. No way they make a legitimate run at the title with the strength of the west right now. On the other hand, you keep the pick, you take Durant (who will be a stud) and give the city something to cheer about. If Allen is as intelligent of a businessman as he should be, he will see that having somebody like Durant to build around in an NBA city (Sea really is a good place to play with good fans)is enough for him to keep it there.
I like the format, I've recently thought of doing something similar, like a top five songs of the moment, top this top that, top everything. Odds of this happening, probability that that will happen, etc. Anywho, go boltzzzz.
I like the blog. Good format. And, you brought up some excellent ideas. You just moved into my top 5 sites I look at eveyrday. Congratulations.
Bright Eyes album "I'm wide awake, It's morning." My favorite songs from it include "Old Soul Song", "I'm wide Awake it's morning", and "First Day of My Life."
